Valentine’s Day in video advertising

Cupid surely has a lot to do before Valentine’s Day, but, nowadays, the same thing can be said about advertisers who try their best to use this love-celebrating holiday to their advantage. Gemius analysed gemiusAdReal results for some of the most popular romance-themed video ads in Romania, Ukraine and Russia to see how many users were actually reached by the same creatives.
Pandora: “You know what to DO”
The Pandora’s ad is narrated by a woman who, surrounded by the cliché love – expressing gestures, confesses not to be a big fan of Valentine’s Day in all its conventional sense. She concludes that she prefers the little things as opposed to all the big acts, teddy bears and fancy dinners. Without being too sentimental, Pandora wittingly juxtaposes its brand to the stereotypical meaning of the holiday somehow cherishing the true love that marks its presence in the ordinary everyday life.
The video ad has been broadcast in the two analysed countries, reaching over 40 000 of real users in Romania (30s spot) and over 500 000 in Ukraine (15s spot) just at the beginning of February.
Universal Pictures: 50 shades of Valentine
This year’s Valentine’s Day could not be complete without the teaser trailer to the newest Universal Pictures production from the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. Fifty Shades Freed concludes the journey of Anastasia and Christian and the teaser itself hints at a happy ending for the couple.
The video, broadcast in Ukraine (15s spot) and Russia (30s spot), has reached over 450 000 and 3 million real users, respectively.
