While the basic tool for browsing the net in Russia is Yandex, the local leader (used by 84 per cent of Russian internet population) in Ukraine and Belarus is Google – this is the most frequently visited website (with a reach of 66 per cent in Ukraine and 62 per cent in Belarus).

Also local social networks enjoy popularity. First and foremost – VKontakte, the third most popular website in Belarus (used by 54 per cent of internet users), in Russia (68 per cent) and Ukraine (58 per cent), but also another site – Odnoklassniki. The latter is used by 54 per cent of online population from Russia, 30 per cent from Belarus, 29 per cent from Ukraine and 23 per cent from Kazakhstan. Facebook is among the first ten most popular websites in Ukraine and Russia (ranking 7^th with a reach of 31 per cent and 10^th with 28 per cent, respectively).

In the analysed countries, online shopping is becoming a thing of interest too. The growing e-market is a chance for experienced brands, this including the Allegro group. On the Belarusian list of ten websites with highest users growth (between December 2012 and December 2013) as many as two websites belong to this category: in 8^th position Deal.by (increase by 15 per cent), and in 9^th Slando.by (increase by 29 per cent).
