Nearly 70 million people use the web in Russia. This is 2.5 million more than at the beginning of the year. Among the internet users, women are prevalent (38 million).
Gemius data shows that the website women visit most often is government site about pension Pfrf.ru (88 per cent) and the e-shops Bonprix.ru (85 per cent) and Mamsy.ru (84 per cent). On the other hand, the most popular men’s choice are the online version of the magazine “Military Review” - Topwar.ru (89 per cent), the internet freelancers platform Freelansim.ru (86 per cent) and the economy news site Finam.ru (83 per cent).
According to IAB Europe calculations, the value of the Russian online market is higher than in many Western Europe countries.

According to IAB Europe calculations, the value of the Russian online market is higher than in many Western Europe countries. Russia now gives way only to the UK, Germany and France (AdEx Benchmark data). Russia also records impressive growth dynamics. With an increase of twenty per cent in 2013, it comes first in Europe (the European average is 11 per cent). In spite of that, online ad spends per internet user are far less than in the other countries (13 euro vs 37 euro in Europe).
