News, auction and multimedia on Turkish mobile devices

Hurriyet.com.tr, Sahibinden.com and Izlesene.com are the three Turkish websites most readily visited by smartphone and tablet users – Gemius analysis shows.

Recently published forecasts by Gartner suggest that in 2018 smartphones and tablets will serve as the main web access points for over half of internet users[1]. The latest report prepared by Gemius shows that depending on the day and the hour, the manner in which people connect the internet with their mobile devices changes[2]. And which Turkish websites get the most displays on smartphone and tablet screens?

Hurriyet.com.tr on smartphones and tablets

It turns out that in Turkey, internet users who connect the web via their smartphones and tablets most often visit Hurriyet.com.tr, which is an online version of one of the main Turkish dailies. In the second position comes the auction site Sahibinden.com, followed by Izlesene.com – a user-generated content website.

October 2014 data show that Hurriyet.com.tr is visited by over a quarter of smartphone users (2.40m) and one-third of tablet users (1.67m). Sahibinden.com is browsed by every fourth internet user on a smartphone (2.18m) and tablet (1.33m). The website Izlesene.com is entered by one-fifth of smartphone (1.79m) and one-fourth of tablet (1.18m) users.

About the research

The data quoted originates from an international project (gemiusAudience) conducted by Gemius in more than 30 countries. It aims to research into the number and demographic profile of internet users and the manner in which they utilize the web. The study is performed according to Gemius proprietary hybrid methodology and in accordance with the ICC/ESOMAR international code of conduct. In Turkey gemiusAudience is known as IAB Turkey Internet Audience Measurement Study.
