Germany: TOP 10 online video adverts

Video adverts for the 1und1.de brand were watched by 8.7 million people in March. Material from this company which offers internet and cell phone services was viewed 48.2 million times. Discover which ten video spots were played by the greatest number of German web users.

Gemius analysed which video adverts were most heavily promoted on the German Internet. The study takes into account last month’s data collected for internet users aged 18 to 90 on desktop and laptop computers. In the ranking of the top 10 video commercials by number of users reached, first place went to a spot promoting the services of 1und1.de (owned by 1&1 Internet SE). This material was viewed by 8.7 million internet users (source: gemiusAdReal).

Electronics and Internet riding high

For another month the German internet and telephone provider has stayed high in the listing. It leads its rival ads in the Top 10 in terms not only of user numbers, but also of views, with 48.2 million. These views were mostly on sites belonging to 1und1.de’s related company 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH. The March ranking also featured three more video ads for electronics or online services. There were two promoting Amazon Group brands: third place was occupied by a spot for Amazon Prime Video, which was watched by 3.9 million internet users. In turn, a creation promoting the Amazon Echo interactive speaker was shown to 3.3 million people, and took fifth. Some 3.3 million German web users watched an advertisement for Samsung Galaxy devices (Samsung Electronics).

Cars bring in the spring?

Of course, not all matters can be sorted from afar on the digital highway. Sometimes we need to hit the actual asphalt. German web users were encouraged in this direction by vehicle ads – March saw creations from Suzuki (Suzuki Motor Corporation) and Fiat (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles – FCA). The video for the Japanese manufacturer took second place in the rankings with 4.7 million internet users, while the Fiat film played to an audience of 3 million. Spring is conducive not only to changing the car to a newer model, but also a spring freshening of home fittings and bringing order to our surroundings, hence the entry of Ikea (Ikea Group), whose spot was watched by 2.8 million on the Internet, and of Hornbach DIY stores (Hornbach group), whose advert met with an online audience of 2.5 million.
