Gemius in the Adria Region

Gemius is conquering markets in the Adria Region. The first two countries where the company has established its research methodology are Slovenia and Croatia. In the latter, the research agency has created the standard in online audience measurement with publishing the data of the gemiusAudience project, supported by INAMA, the local Joint Industry Committee.

Two markets – one standard

Slovenia has half the Croatian population, but it has much higher Internet penetration that amounts to 61.1 %, while in Croatia it is 37.1% (source: Daily CATI Omnibus; Internet penetration within the population aged 12 and more; 03.2007). Prior to Gemius Slovenia had been acquainted with Internet marketing research and has with Gemius got its second online research provider. The first research, called MOSS was introduced slightly before Gemius entered the Slovenian market and it was recognized by the local advertising chamber as the official SAC research. By entering the market Gemius made it more competitive and methodologically advanced. The second market – Croatia – slightly less developed, thanks to the great willingness of close cooperation among publishers and the need of establishing a standard in research on the Internet, published the gemiusAudience data prior to their above mentioned neighbours.

First – educate the market

The beginning of the year 2007 has been marked by the first Internet conference in Croatia, called FuturAd. It was organised in Zagreb, where Gemius along with its regional partner, Valicon,, sponsored this event. FutureAd aimed at spreading good practices in online marketing, not only on the basis of local experience, but also learning from the Western colleagues. At the conference Gemius and Valicon have presented the results of the gemiusAudience research on the Croatian market. The project provides publishers and media agencies with practical, easy-to-use tools for online media planning. The data is provided once a month, reporting at a monthly level. Media planners make use of a special analytical tool, called gemiusExplorer, in order to optimize their online advertising campaigns.

gemiusAudience – results of the research

Croatia has marked its participation in the gemiusAudience research with succesful enlisting of some of the biggest web sites in the project. The results for March 2007 have presented tportal.hr, a news and lifestyle portal, as most visited site in Croatia with 530 769 visits recorded. It is followed by net.hr, also a news and lifestyle portal, with 507 040 visits recorded. On the third place there is blog.hr, a blogging and lifestyle portal with 413 666 visits performed respectively.
