Turkey: young women make the decisions in e-tourism
One of the principal influencers of internet user habits is how to access the information needed. With the onset of the summer season and holiday planning, there is an increase in user interest in travel-related media sites. While the number of users visiting websites in the tourism category was around eight million in January, it increased by 19 per cent and reached 9.4 million in June.
One of the most visited websites in the tourism category, and which has increased by 118 per cent in June compared to January, reaching first place, is etstur.com. Whereas the number of users of websites which provide accommodation options has increased from January to June, the number of users of websites which provide air travel has decreased during the same period. The tendency of users to purchase plane tickets earlier in order to benefit from advantageous prices means that these websites are more frequently visited in earlier months.
Since tourism content is mostly read by users between the ages of 25-34 (27.5 per cent), it is possible to conclude that with a representation of 51 per cent of this age group, women users are the most interested in tourism content.
